Equipping leaders of integrity today for healty church & society in the 21st century & beyond

  • Are you among those who are wondering how they can deepen their walk with the Lord, how to acquire good biblical and theological foundations and how to enhance their abilities for better and competent Christian service? Well, we may not promise that CDL—Centro para o Desenvolvimento de Liderança (English, “Leadership Development Center”) is the only place to get the full answer to your questions but we can certainly assure you that it is our commitment to strive to help those who come and enrol in our programs of studies cultivate a life of integrity, acquire solid and academically challenging biblical and theological education and also achieve a competent Christian leadership. Our three verbs are: BE, KNOW AND KNOW HOW.

  • Are you searching for a place to enhance your leadership skills? Maybe you are already in ministry or want to be a pastor, missionary or you are seeking to know more about the Bible? Attending our seminars, modular courses and deciding to enrol in our designed formal programs (Diploma or BA in Theology) can respond your inquiry and search. Yes, our programs of studies will change your life and prepare you for wherever God is calling you. Our goal is to prepare you in ministry and, as you seek further education, our designed formal programs of studies are also effective preparation for further studies in graduate school or seminary.
  • While committed to deepen your biblical and theological understanding, CDL also seeks to enhance your skills in other areas of studies that the church and Para church organizations today are yearning for, namely, Media and Communications, Social Service & Community Development, Organizational Management, Linguistics (know biblical languages and more) and Worship Leadership. CDL through its various designed programs, is committed to cultivating leaders with a unique character—a character that is thoughtful, mature, and evangelical (full commitment to the gospel). We endeavor to expose our developing leaders to programs that will deepen their relationship with the Lord, foster critical thinking and develop competency in their areas of ministry goals. We equally seek to expose our developing leaders to a variety of viewpoints within orthodox Christianity, leading them to an intelligent commitment to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
  • Mutual Respect
Understanding that those desiring to attend our programs will certainly come from various trends of theological thought, our program of studies fosters an environment where our developing leaders learn to respect various Christian perspectives as they develop informed faith commitments. Faculty members are encouraged to model collegial discussion that is informed by the Bible, the inerrant Word of God, and centered in Christ, the head of the Church. Our developing leaders learn to think carefully about their beliefs and learn to articulate their faith with a balance between humility and confidence, taking the stand that all truth is God’s truth thus avoiding dualism. The goal is Christian maturity and competent service.

    Christian Maturity and Competent Service
In our programs of studies, developing leaders will learn to avoid simplistic answers to complex questions we face today within our societies. Not only will they become familiar with various traditions within Christianity, but also seek to understand non-Christian perspectives thoroughly. The end product and our hope are to see leaders who can articulate their beliefs without giving naïve or non-informed answers to those outside their faith. It is part of our program and ministry philosophy that all our developing leaders learn to integrate theory and practice.

  • Evangelical Perspective
We are essentially an evangelical entity and we understand that Evangelicals are those who are committed, above all else, to the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. Though evangelicals have disagreed on some secondary issues, all have affirmed God’s supernatural activity with human beings, the deity and resurrection of Jesus, and commitment to the view that the Bible is God’s unique revelation. So, our developing leaders will learn from faculty who are devoted to these core values.

    Our Leaders
Our commitment is to cultivate Christian leaders who are able to use the tools of their disciplines. In our program, our developing leaders will learn to understand and practice their faith in a broad cultural setting. As they receive a thorough grounding in the primary sources of their field, and critically engage the best existing scholarship, we hope to prepare them as leaders of integrity today for a healthy church and society in the 21st century and beyond—All for the good of the church, and for the benefit of the world in which they live and, above all, for the glory and honor of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior.
